Story | A man drives through a war-torn country as his daughter sprawls on the back seat, badly wounded. The tension mounts as both he and we realise that she will die if she doesn't get help soon. Our empathy is heightened by the direction, the fast editing and the colour palette, which create a powerful sense of place and take us inside the car. Finally, when the man carries the girl the last few metres to the hospital, he sees it has been destroyed by a bomb. Healthcare should not be a target. |
