The world’s Smallest Restaurant just opened in Copenhagen, with room for only one guest at a time. It’s called ‘Restaurant 1:1’ and it’s made by the local supermarket Irma as a fun way to promote their new single-person meals.
Philosophy
To address this challenge, Irma has released a new range of single ready meals (Irma To-Go) in collaboration with prominent danish restaurants such as Cofoco, GRØD and Meyers. To prove the quality of their single-portion ready meals, the supermarket has opened the world’s smallest restaurant in Copenhagen where the meals are prepared and served - but only for guest at a time.
Problem
Irma is the oldest supermarket chain in Denmark and known for their high quality and courage to try new things. As the number of single households is booming, the pressure on our environment is growing too. This is due to the fact that grocery shopping is designed for families, in need of larger quantities, leading to food waste in single homes where the produce cannot be consumed before going bad.
